Planting by Stephen Jones, 4th November 2010
The last tree was planted in the Foundation Walk by Stephen Jones MP Member for Throsby on 4th November 2010. Unfortunately Stephen was not able to join us at the official launch by the Governor of NSW due to a conflict in engagements with his proper job in Canberra.
In contrast to the extremely windy weather we experienced at the official launch, the weather for this planting was mild with a light breeze. OK - it might have been reaching for 10 degrees Celsius and raining a little with over 1 1/2 inches (40mm in the new scale) falling over the past 24 hours. The weather during the afternoon provided an intimate atmosphere with Stephen brushing off the incoming mist so his suit stayed dry for his next engagement.
Thanks again to our intrepid Secretary, Jacqui Page, who warmed us up after the planting with a hot cup of tea and scones still warm from the oven.
Luckily the Council had managed to pop in to the site during a very wet week to mow the Walk. It has been such a terrific spring the grass was now so long it was nearly ready for harvesting as silage.
